In choosing an artist to do a replica of one of their works, I chose this work by Neil Welliver. Welliver is best known for his large scale landscape paintings. He never copies or imitates the colors he finds in nature. Instead he alters the colors and recreates his own setting. I chose this painting because of it’s depth and color selection. The peacefulness, the authenticity of nature and the mountains, highlight a place far away from civilization somewhere within Maine’s Rustic Region.
